Farmers Drum IV

Size: 14 x 6 inches.

Maple stave drum from a small maple tree in the backyard of my former workshop (the complete terrain was sold to real estate developers who ordered to cut down the trees). The shell is hadcarved (check out the detailing where the hardware touches the drum!) and finished with oil, shellack and an ultra matte 2k laquer. All hardware (except screws) is handmade from steel and was tin-plated (after which it was polished en given a nice coat of microcrystalline wax). Top edge is a 45 degrees inside with a 4,5 mm. roundover outside. Bottom edge is scharp 45 degrees. Together with a fairly deep and wide snarebed this combination of edges makes for a warm, controlled, but also very sensitive drum. Prize: Sold.
